The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Corley Reserve, which is also in barrel, is a blend of 88% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc and, again, will spend 30 months in barrel and be bottled in April 2016. The color is almost black as a moonless night, the wine full-bodied and rich, showing loads of blueberry and blackberry fruit, judicious use of toasty oak, impressive purity and texture. This could be the best wine from Monticello Vineyards in many a year, if it gets into the bottle without too much manipulation and filtration. Drink 2018-2032+.
Vineyard Notes
Our Flagship wine is our CORLEY RESERVE Cabernet
Sauvignon. Utilizing the strengths of each of
our cabernet sauvignon vineyards in Rutherford,
Yountville and St Helena give us the luxury of
three of Napa Valley's premier Cabernet
Sauvignon growing areas. to produce full, rich
and complex Cabernet Sauvignon wine.
Typically luscious, powerful and richly textured
our CORLEY RESERVE is full-bodied and while
ready to drink is also a wine to lay down for the
years to come.
Aromatics of juicy red fruits, toasty sweet oak
and hints of vanilla. Flavors follow similarly, most
notably rich berry pie as the wine opens up. This
wine once again shows nice consistency and
balance throughout the entire experience – from
the aromatics through to the finish. The mouthfeel
is rich in texture and the finish sails on
framed by firm but velvety tannins, one of the
hallmarks of our wine.
